Bleach Burns?

theLady Aug 24, 2008 05:34 PM

We have been discussing my snake's health in here the past few days. We said maybe water blisters, then perhaps septicemia.

I realized that when i treated her for mites abouta week ago - before she had these brown colored scales - i soaked her cage in a 1:16 bleach water solution for about an hour and a half. I sprayed it with the hose and let sun dry outside for about 30 minutes because i had to be somewhere, then sprayed the cage with a reptile enclosure disinfectant and wiped down. Layed some paper towel and put her back in her cage. I was wondering if her condition in bleach burn opposed to septicemia? Here is another pick of her belly yesterday (and today clear pieces of her belly scales are coming loose):

It could be from the bleach, but it's really hard to say for sure.. as you know bleach is a very powerful product.. That's why in 25 years of reptile keeping i have never used it on anything.. Next time stick with hot tap water and soap it works very well and is much safer.

I think a vet visit is in order to figure out what's going on with your snake.

Try using the "macro" setting when you take close-up pics. They will be in focus then.

Most phones have a marco setting too. And a brightness setting right next to it. Cheers

When you turn on the cam. look for a plus and a minus. That will zoom the camera in. Cheers

no way! that's crazy. but ya, when you zoom in on a phone, it tends to get blury and less detail is provided, nawmsayin, cheers

.

My new phone just has a big round thing with 10 numbered holes. My old one had a crank on the side of it. I can't even figure out how to load the film into this one.

that's correct. a lot of bleach. the site i was using said 24 hour ventilation at least. had it in the sun for 30 minutes.

hmm, a snake of yours had the same thing? was he/she still very active while her belly was messed up? did you get her looked at?
