woma balls???

dude21361 Aug 24, 2008 07:05 PM

I have a small collection of balls and I have a female woma. My question is what exactly is a woma ball? I have seen many many pics and it doesnt resemble an aussie woma to me? Can someone please explain this and also when 1.1 woma balls are bred, can you produce any "special" morphs? Thanks again for your time

A woma ball is a morph of ballpython. It has nothing in it that relates to the Ausie Woma. An individual, I can not remember whom, did successfully Hybridize the ball python to the Woma that you are thinking of and called the offspring Walls. They are amazing looking animals withthe body coloration of a woma and the head of a Ball. They werein the classifieds a week or so ago so you might still be able to find them. Todd

I was not refering to a hybrid. I am asking what makes this morph a woma. What characteristics does it have that gave it the name woma, because it doesnt look very much like a woma? Thanks again...

Kevin (NERD) said that he named the Woma ball such because the color or the pattern (I forget which probably the banded pattern) reminded him of a Woma python. Like most morphs there are those that exhibit the trait much better than others -- many of the Womas you see dont look quite as nice as the originals. Two Womas bred together makes a pearl ball -- so far there seems to be an issue with these living very long. Some Womas also seem to carry a hidden gene that makes for spectacular crosses.
