temperature range

marioricardo May 23, 2003 07:51 PM

I was reading about the gradients of temperatures that the corns need in order to digest, live....ect. The thing is that the temperatures should range from 75-85F, right? Well, because I live in Puerto Rico (a tropical island in the CAribbean), the temperature during the day (where I keep my corn) usually reaches 85F and about 80F during the night. What I assume is that the snake can change its temp by going for a bath. Is this correct or should I put the snake in a cooler place and then put a heat pad, or can I leave it as it is since the temperature is usually constant?

You're lucky. Sounds like you have pretty close to ideal temps for your animals. If your temps are usually within that range, I would just leave things as they are. You may want to get a good reading on what kinds of temperature variations you have inside your home during different times of day, etc. You might find that some parts of your home get too hot (especially if you have an upstairs), while others are near perfect. This could influence where you want to keep your snakes, or at least where you might move them if the weather gets unusually hot or cold.
Good luck. Duffy
