Incubation

wmcandrew Aug 24, 2008 11:18 PM

I have a clutch of Hondo eggs that are due to hatch any day now... most of what I've read puts the incubation time at about 65 days. They were laid on the 25th of June. I was wondering how long the incubation time is from other people's experience and what days they start cutting.

The length of time depends on the temp you have kept the eggs at. I have a few clutches that were laid on 6/1 and have not yet hatched. Resist the temptation to start slicing. Honduran eggs can easily go past 65 days.

I haven't hatched out honduran eggs, but with peublans, nelsoni, sinaloans and gaigeae, they all go well past 60 days with temps between 79 and 81. Peublans, in my experience started slitting at 65, nelsons 65-67 days and gaigeae are usually 70 days. My point is, I wouldn't be surprised if they went close to 70 days. Its hard but this is when patience pays off.

Good Luck

Like everyone else has stated, it depends on the temps...and the temp flucuations.

My Hondos are incubated at 77-81 and they go at least 75 days...and most start to hatch at the 77th-79th day.

My eggs hatched!! So far 6 are out of the egg and two have thier heads sticking out. I got one ghost and 7 hets. I could have used a little better odds but I am just glad to prove out these hets I have. I will post pics as soon as I get the time. Just thought I would update everyone and say thank you for all the help and advice.
