Opinions on Hypo Harlequins

tcdrover Aug 25, 2008 07:34 AM

I have a nice possible super Hypo harlequin which I was going
to pair up with a male stripeline albino this year, but I may
go in another direction.

I might put her with another hypo harlequin instead. I think
I'm more curious about those babies. I was wondering what
other boa breeders and enthusiasts think about those two
options.

I don't think the Dbl hets would sell for all that much more
than the Hypo Harlequinns, but I really don't know because I
haven't seen any for sale around here...

Its more of a personal preferance than anything. I actually have a fairly decent snow/moonglow project in the works but its stronger on the anery side if that makes sense. Im working more torwards anery and ghost because I just like them more. Not a lot of money in it just because I like the looks.

Id stick with hypo to hypo in your situation though. can get cleaner animals and more colors. If you are in it for the money though, good luck.

purely for the money I have a J-O-B, but it is a factor there is no denying that.

I only want to keep a few so I will have to move the rest.
I don't want to give them away either, and risk incurring the
wrath of those guys who are very concerned with boa market
value.

I'm leaning towards the hypo to hypo pairing, but I still have
a few more months before I pair them up. I think plenty of those
f2-f4 hypos actually end up looking nicer than many sunglows.

I'd have more excitment by breeding the two Hypo Harlequins together and seeing what cool, clean babies would pop out. I think you'd be doing just as good financially with that pairing as well.

in the original thread, he did say it might be bred to another Hypo Harlequin, and that's why I posted what I posted.

I think that there could be some really nice outcomes from harixharli and it's something I'm planning to do myself. The stronger the harli influence the better...

I do see the benefits of putting into the stripe line albinos as well since the stripes (in general) have great color.

I say do both breedings and pick whichever one to do first that you would be most excited about. (gee, that didn't help a lot now did it?)

You know who that male hypo-harli is don't you?
(He's looking good BTW)...

I was initially going to do the albino male first, but I just
got a jungle hypo probable het for albino which kind of makes
that whole harli sunglow project kind of obsolete...

Aww so you're picking jungle sunglows over harli sunglows? just teasing! I can't wait to see a super jungle sunglow myself. (or super jungle anery for that matter!)

I'm crossing my fingers to have some sunglow harlis in a while, hopefully 2011... just have to see how it goes.

I'm going to take some pics of your harli's brothers and sisters this weekend.
