Finally....a herp room!!!!

Rob Lewis Aug 25, 2008 07:04 PM

I have been keeping herps for about 15 year and, for whatever reason, have never been able to have a dedicated space for them. Well, the planets have finally lined up and, as of this past weekend, I have a herp room in the basement. I was going to post some pics but right now it is just a 12' x 12' box with white walls as I have not moved anything in. Once I get the animals in it I will take some pics and post them but right now it is just not that interesting.

As exciting as having the space is, however, is the fact that, under the guidance of my father-in-law, I built it myself! As most of you know, I consider myself to be quite constructionally challenged so it was a real sense of accomplishment to stand in the finished room and just look around (plain white walls and everything). My father-in-law did help quite a bit but most of what he provided was guidance.

At any rate, I am pretty stoked about the room so I wanted to share. As I said, when I get some stuff in there and there is more to look at than the walls I will post some pics. In the meantime, who knows, I may even have enough confidence to try building a cage or two.

Thanks for reading.

Rob

I know it is a great feeling to accomplish something this size on your own. I look forward to seeing the all set up pictures.

Rob,

You should know that all of us would gladly look at a room with white walls and dream about what would go in there. Seriously, I do look forward to seeing pictures.

And by all means try to tackle a snake cage or two.

...for the kind words. The room is still empty but here a couple of pics of the process.

Thanks again.

It's an awesome feeling aint it?

I finally got mine mostly finished up and all the snakes moved out there. Something about it just makes you feel like things are going really well, despite whatever is actually going on hehehe. It gives you that "big time" feeling.

A video tour of my room for those interested.....I guess I was too modest to create my own thread for it, but I'll piggyback on a pre-exisiting one with no issues LOL. I've since accomplished more in the room, but it's still not 100% done.
