Whatever Happened to the......

Super Striped Amel Ruthveni that a few people were trying to prove out 2 or 3 years ago? I saw striped, super striped and amel specimens, but never an amel striped. I believe Justin Mitcham and Shannon Brown were working with them. Who else? Maybe I missed it and someone did produce one/some.......I never got the chance, but I did have some 'double hets for striped albinos' from Justin......

And...Were they 'pure' Ruthveni?

as far as I know, Shannon and Aaron are both still working with them. I have 1.1 '06 from a clutch that contained striped / aberrant. Mine are not het for amel though, at least I do not think so. Maybe Shannon will see this and pipe up with how they are progressing on striped amels.

I could be remembering this wrong, but wasn't there some issue with male fertility on that project?

I don't know really if there was a problem with this strain, but fertility with Amel Ruthveni used to be a big problem. I do believe the strain has been strengthened considerably to date.

Aaron just told me that Shannon has his snakes now too. So Shannon is the one to get more info from. The project is ongoing, and I have not heard anything regarding fertility issues.

Thank you Joe and tell Mr. Mattson thank you as well....I guess I'll wait for Shannon to get 'on-line' and let us know what is up with them.

I’ve raised a number of ‘stripe line’ PH albino ruthveni from neonates. They should be ready to breed next year.

Do any of yours striped Ruthvens have the amelanistic gene? I've seen many striped het for amel and Double Het for striped and amel but never a double homzygous striped/amel Ruthveni.

Is the striped trait a single recessive trait?

Thanks for your pics....those are awesome.....

Others would know the answer to your question better than I. I highly suspect that striping is not a simple recessive trait. I'm looking forward to what this time next year tells me about the adult's genetics!
