Custom cage

roman420 May 23, 2003 07:55 PM

What would be the ideal dimensions for a cage built for cresteds. Right now I'm only going to have one, but soon I hope to house three inside. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Roman

The cage i use for my adult male crested is a 40 gal. breeder tipped on its side, so its about 3 ft tall, 2 ft wide and deep (approx). Some of the guys on the forums will swear by the smaller cages due to easier cleaning, easier to find food, etc, but i find the larger cage nicer looking and i think it gives the lizard more room to move around. I use the bowl feeding method and my crestie gets plenty of food. The cage is all fake plants, altogher, the plants cost prob. $50. Heres a pic, and it should be big enough for 3 cresteds.

I don't know about custom so much, but mine used to be a 35 gal. Octagon (standing) fish tank. I thought being it was tall, it would make a great Viv. for Cresties.....here's a pic.

I have a tank just like that but I cannot find a top to fit it. I could craft my own top I suppose I'd just rather buy one for now. I'm going to house my crestie in a 10 gal until I can finish the custom cage unless I use the taller tank. Any suggestions on where to find a screen top for it?

Thanks, Roman

What did you use for a top on your vertical tank? I've got some screen I could use but I'm going to have to craft a frame for it. Where did you get yours or how did you make it?
