Will my Burm eat a f/t Turkey

herphobbypets Sep 04, 2003 09:45 PM

I am having a very hard time trying to find food for my 13' Burmese Pythons. I have been thinking about trying a turkey from the grocery store. I know they eat chickens but I am not sure about a frozen/thawed turkeys/ You might be able to tell I am getting a little desperate. Any thoughts on this.........? Thank you!

Finding appropriate food couldn't be any easier in this day and age. You can check out the MANY vendors on kingsnake.com to find suppliers of rats and rabbits (I personally recommend Rodentpro.com, Kelly Haller, Bayou Rodents just to name a few)....they'll ship the food right to your door so there's no excuse to not feed a quality and appropriate diet. To answer your question, yes, a burm will take a "grocery store turkey" or chicken"; in fact, they'll probably love them but that doesn't mean you should feed this type of food to them. As an occasional treat, I suppose it's fine but do your snake a favor and find a supplier of rats and rabbits and give your snake a whole animal diet. Now if you are feeding whole chickens or turkey that is one thing but even then, rodents seem to be a better diet.
