Daytona Expo Pictures & What I Got (DUW)

waspinator421 Aug 26, 2008 07:42 PM

Well, the Daytona Expo was a blast! This was my first year visiting this show, and I'll definetely be coming back. I got to meet a few internet people in person, and see a ton of awesome animals. I didn't take very many pictures, but I did get a good amount. Please forgive the blurry ones!

The doors had just opened for the top floor tables, and this is the view of the main floor that hadn't opened to the public yet.

I can't remember what this snake is called, but I remember it was a hybrid created by Gonyo, Inc. Very cool animal with the slowest tongue flick I have ever seen. Even the babies flicked very slowly!

At the Herps LTD table ther were some Albino Green Iguanas, and a few other neat things.

Some Aberrant Nelson's Milks at Ward's World of Reptiles. They also had many Cornsnakes at their table.

Reptile Addicts had a bunch of neat animals including a Rhino Rat that I was drooling over. I wan't Rhinos so bad!!

Panther Chameleons

Red Sided? Garter Snakes

Ophiological Services had a pair of GORGEOUS yellow Carpet Pythons. I've never seen Carpets this neon before... and the hefty price tag probably explains why.

They also had some BRBs and a really cool Paradox Albino Ball Python.

Here are a few neat animals at Ball Room Pythons' table.

Tom Keogan had some beautiful Ringed and Black Headed Pythons. I didn't get a picture for some reason, but he had some awesome Axanthic Blackheads too.

Some display Okeetee Corns on Lee Abbott's table.

Morph Makers had some great Bamboo Ratsnakes. Another species I want someday!

Found some more BRBs at Ben Siegel's table.

Dragon Attack had some way cool animals, like this Sailfin Dragon.

Found another group of BRBs at Exotic Jungle.

Captive Born Creations had another drool inducing animal there. Vaillanti, another type of Bamboo Rat.

Some Balls that caught my eye at Marc Bailey's table. He had some nice Honduran Milks as well, but it was too busy for me to get a good picture of them.

An Ornate Uromastyx at Lindsey Pike's table who did not want to sit still.

Strictly Reptiles had a BRB with some neat aberrant crescents. I was so close to buying this one, and I still can't believe I managed to leave it there.

A Hypo BRB at East Bay Vivarium.

Cryptic Creatures had a neat assortment of animals, incuding some baby BRBs.

Blackheaded Python.

Some Woma Pythons.

Here is my S.O. at A&M Geckos holding an adult Mali Uromastyx.

A pretty Reticulated Python at Mike Bell's table.

Some neat Pueblan Milks at BHB Reptiles.

Here are some pretty Brazilian Rainbow Boas at Jeff Clark's table.

He also had this Peruvian Rainbow.

South Mountain Reptiles had this neat Aberrant Ruthven's Kingsnake.

Constrictors & Associates had some neat BCI.

After we finally made it to all the tables, Ethan and I went back upstairs for a snack. It was pretty cool to be able to see the show from above.

This post got kind of long, so I'll post pictures of what I brought home in a different post.

Thanks for the fabulous tour of the Expo for those of us who couldn't make it. What an amazing collection of gorgeous critters! I wish I could have seen them in person, but your photos gave me a nice armchair taste of the whole thing. I can't wait to see the pics of what you brought home...

Renee
1.0 BRB (Loki)
2.0 amel & anery corns (Foxfire & Daguerre)
0.1 blood python (Duchess, arriving later this month)
1.1 Cats (Nightshade & Cuzzy)

Thanks Renee! I like to try and take pictures of the big shows that I go to. I also really like it when others show off a reptile show that I couldn't make it to. It's the next best thing to going there myself! That is why I share my pics to you all!

Aubrey,

Great pics, thanks for posting! Some incredible snakes, but I have to admit that Sailfin Dragon was the bomb. I've never seen
one of those before, it was quite impressive.

Congratulations on your new snakes, those were all very nice.

Thanks,
Ed

Thank you Ed. It was also my first time seeing a Sailfin in person. Quite the impressive animal! I may have to get one many years down the line when I have much more "cage" space.

Thanks so much for sharing.

One point I always find funny, so many "breeders" have a pile o' babies all in the same tub. I get t that they're probably all from the same litter but how do they know each is eating etc.?

(just one of my pet peeves)

Lotsa cool stuff, looking forward to the post above if you let that abby BRB go, the one you got must be really nice!!!!!

Thanks,

And those are only the breeders

lots.lots.lots feeder mice and rats

waspinator421 Aug 29, 2008 05:03 PM

Thanks Dave! Yeah, saw a bunch of the "bunching" of animals there. There was one large clear "deli" type tub that had about 50 some baby Cornsnakes all piled up and squirming around. It was the funniest thing to see, but I wouldn't want to be the one to open it!

Aubrey
....The hybrid snake at the Gonyo booth seems to be a cross between a Red Tailed Green Ratsnake Gonyosoma oxycephalus and a Jansen's Black Tailed Racer Gonyosoma janseni. These two snakes are both occasionally lumped together as Mangrove or green Ratsnakes. They used to be categorized as Elaphe species. The two snakes look very similar except for coloration.
....I think that those Bamboo Ratsnakes with the little bit of banding are the Chinese subspecies. The Japanese subspecies coxi is cleanly striped and more commonly bred and kept. They are both beautiful snakes that are in big demand.

You rock! Thanks so much for the great pix, I really wanted to go.

That sailfin critter is way cool! I dont do lizards anymore, but that guy would make me think twice! Is that little green guy a green tree monitor?

That neon yellow python is a Carpandro, its a jungle x chondro hybrid. Gorgeous snake, I bet its way better in person.

Those BRB on Jeff's table look to be the best in the show. I'm so not surprised! lol. The Peruvian is a jaw dropper, I'd have had a hard time leaving that there myself, I really like those guys.

It looks like my debit card would have melted and my wallet would have gone up in flames at that show!! lol.

Thanks Julie! Yeah they had Green and Blue Tree Monitors. They also had a "Tri-Color" Monitor which looked like a cross between the Blue Green and Yellow Tree Monitors. Not sure if that is actually what it was, but that is just what it looked like.

Thanks for the info on the Carpondro, never seen one before, but I have heard of them. GORGEOUS animals!
