Cycling ???

babysdaddy Aug 27, 2008 03:40 PM

Hi guys. Just wanted some opinions. I am still acclimating 1.1 wc C. collaris. I got them in about 2 months ago, the female is eating on her own (and keeping on weight) but the male won't eat on his own. He will eat when restrained and an item is held up to his mouth. He is keeping and adding weight. Should I cycle them or would it be better to keep feeding them over the winter to get them further acclimated.

I wouldn't if he isn't eating on his own, and if they haven't had a fecal or been wormed. You need to find out why he isn't wanting to eat. Did you read Eve's care sheet? Are you monitoring your temps closely? What are your basking temps and cool side temps?

Hey Babysdaddy,

I have a handful of new collareds, a male and a few girlies. I've only had them about 2 weeks. The girls are getting well settled in and eating well. But my male is a very picky eater. He only eats a few crickets and those he does reluctantly. I believe I have their viv set up pretty well, but still tweaking the light and temps a little. Looks like you and I may have similar issues.

Send me an email if ya want to correspond with more detail I'd be happy to chat some about it. I'm less worried about my girls, but a little anxious about getting this boy turned around some.

My email is hawesjw@muohio.edu
