RED BALLS??? Hope the color last?!

pythonmikey420 May 23, 2003 08:03 PM

I saw the 2 RED balls for sale in the classifieds...I contacted the seller and he said that the highest bid so far was $1000 for ONE...Thats a lot of cash. My concern about them is will the color last after a few sheds. I would be pretty pissed if I spend a GRAND on a common! I hope it does work out and is PROVEN.. would love to have one in the future. Just wanting your thoughts

They do look nice. I am new and would love to get in on the ground floor of something like this, but if they do not prove out or fade to normal in 4 or 5 sheds, wow, what a waste of $2500 .

Have a question, where would something like this come from? Why would they not be taken by someone before getting to the US, unless they were born in US. Is proven, could they be worth a lot? Like what amount are we talking, $25,000 or even higher???

Thanks everyone... JAZ

I hope that top bidder knows what he is doing. Or maybe there is no bid at all and its to get attention...

I think many points have been make, a no body would not have these. Heck, 1 is a find, this guy has 2 and both are the same color. Just seems too strange...

Good luck to the high bidder on that one.

Would think this guy would bring them to a big Reptile show and show them in person, i would think if they were real, the big breeders would be there the next morning to bid on them...

Something does not look quite right about those photos. I don' know, I am no expert, but to my eye something definitely looks "off."

I remember reading something somewhere that quoted Ralph Davis talking about morphs. He said something to the effect that brand-new morphs would never just end up on the classifieds. Big breeders would have already had the opportunities to snatch them up, and got them via their connections with exporters in Africa.

And think about it, if a true "red ball" or two were discovered, $1000 is VERY CHEAP!!! Someone like Ralph or the Barkers or Sutherlands would be offering a much higer and undisclosed amount of money for something that new and different if they believed it could be a new lucrative morph. So when Joe Nobody offers $1000 for a brand-new and dynamically different animal, it's probably not worth the imaginary dollar signs that pop up in their eyes. Just my opinion.

Agree totally, remember guys this is THE SAME person who sold that so called PASTEL ,Unsexed no less for $1000. Bob Clark told me once that he knew of a guy that actually soaked the snake it Kool Aid punch (that's right the stuff kids drink)and tried selling it as a NEW MORPH! Again BUYER BEWARE!!!! I won't be bidding on it that's for sure, based on the Pastel deal he tried pulling on everyone... Seems funny how this guy all of the sudden has a new MORPH out of nowhere, doesn't it??????? All I can say is ORANGE KOOL AID... Anthony McCain-McCain's Reptiles.

You sir are an absolute insult to the ball python industry!!! Go back to kindergarden...get you crayons out and start to learn how to color again!

YOU THOUGHT IT WAS A PASTEL????

How can you speculate? It is or it isn't a Pastel!!! Have you ever seen a real live pastel? Have you ever hatched any out? Do your homework man!!! Figure out what your talking about before you embarass yourself again. Better yet...just go away!!!

MJ

ps. YOUR DAMN RIGHT I'M PISSED OFF!!!!

Ritchieanul May 23, 2003 11:17 PM

I offered him two gallons of gatorade.

My friend offered to send him blue gatorade for free if he can make a ball python in blue.

djdhrone May 23, 2003 11:30 PM

funny guy

Ritchieanul May 23, 2003 11:57 PM

your so funny you will be lauhging all the way to the bank with some schmucks money

Ritchieanul May 23, 2003 11:14 PM

Everytime it sheds. It will lose the color.
But Soak it in Red gatorade or any other die. But gatorade works good.

If you want blue you can try blue gatorade....But personally I have not tried blue yet.

Let me see
1. the big breeders do not have the red ball pythons.
2. Some BIG NOBODY was able to import them before the big breeders did.
3. Even the belly scales are red. NOT WHITE
4. Red ball pythons as well as other colored snakes have been produced in the past by soaking in gatorade or some other dyes.

So if you know whoever is supposedly bidding $5000 Tell them to send the money my way. I can send them a male 50% het for albino in blue. And a normal female in red. I can also send a couple boas in orange.

mikenna May 23, 2003 11:39 PM

That's right I bid $10,000 on them. I have no idea if it is genetic or not, but I seriously doubt anyone dipped them. If that is the case and I get the snakes then I am the fool. If not and it turns out to be genetic I will sell offspring for for about $25K. That is the risk you take to get in on the ground floor. It is a shame to hear all the trash talking on this subject from people who don't know and to be truthful are all hoping this is a big joke. I only posted here to back up someone has something neat and doesn't want to be taken advantage of. This snake business is unbelievable. Anyone is welcome to post their opinions, but talking trash on hear say and jelousy is rediculous.

1. Big breeders like Ralph have at least TENS of THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.
Sitting in the bank waiting to get a magical call from the exporters in Africa. You telling me some big nobody just imported them? I wonder why the big breeders are not breaking down his door?

2. You telling me it passed through all those hands and no one thought to put it aside to sell at much higher prices? And how come the big breeders with big banks are not breaking down his door.

3. Nice red belly on that ball python. It should be white.

4. $10,000 to get in on the ground floor? Buy yourself some albinos or a piebald.

5. Send the $10,000 my way and I will send you a male in blue and a red female to go with him for free. But if you add another $5000 I believe I can make one in orange.

6. Jealousy? yeah I am jealous that I am not crooked enough to dye some ball pythons and make tons of money of some idiot.

7. Speaking of which.....they say there is one born every minute.

mikenna May 24, 2003 12:13 AM

You could be right, I may be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time and wouldn't be the last. Maybe the big boys aren't knocking down the door for the same reasons you just stated? Who knows? All I know is that I am interested in them and feel it is worth the risk. Besides he has already given me a writen guarantee. Also I already have pieds, albino, spiders, pastels and plattys. Just because you haven't heard of me doesn't mean I just fell off the turnip truck!

Again, I could be wrong, but I think you guys have been way to hard on someone for posting something new. About the red belly, if this is something new that no one has seen before, how do you know they should have white bellies?

I do appreaciate people warning people of possible scams, but this went too far. Much too far.

JohnZ May 24, 2003 11:13 AM

I have to agree with you. Its a risk and your willing to take it. I think that solves the problem of everyone asking why he does not prove them out. Its risk for both the buyer and seller. If they do not prove out, the buyer takes the hit. If they prove out, the seller takes the hit.

Your paying $10,000 and thats great. Like you said, if they prove out, you will be getting $25,000 each and people will be banging down your door(seller lost out by not proven out).

As long as you knw the risk either way, i see no harm in it. Heck, if someone is willing to buy a normal with the thought of it proven out to be a Het to some new morph and pays $5,000 as long as he knows its a risk and he is still willing to take that chance, then nothing wrong happened.

I do hope it works out for you. Just cover your bases. Heck, imagine the possabilities if it proves out, all the new morphs that could be made.

Anyways, good luck. I would love an update on them once you get them and let me know when the babies come out, if they are red(the babies) put me on the list(i'll take one)... JAZ

W.Wedeking May 26, 2003 12:23 PM

Well, I am not much of a snake person, but I am no fool either. It seems to me that if you are willing to "risk" that much money, you could at least wait until the animals have shed to see if they do indeed keep their color. For that amount of $$ I would also expect a written guarantee as well as paperwork on where the animals came from.
In the mean time, buy a "normal" ball python and soak it in gatoraide and see if you get the same thing. If so, you know it is BS and it has only cost you something like $75 as opposed to $10,000. Then again, if you have that much that you are just willing to throw away I will give you my account number and you are welcome to make a depot
