Aberrant Boa - feedback appreciated (DUW

Sidviciouser Aug 28, 2008 12:02 AM

I would really like to know what you guys think of this boa.
First off, the reason I got this boa is because I love the aberrancy. I hope he is genetic, but if not, it's fine with me. I can't tell you how glad I am to have him in my collection. I can't stop staring at him. He's dark, reminds me of an anery.

He is an 05. It came from someone that got it from someone, that didn't keep any info on it. I'm guessing that he is aberrant from temperature fluctuations until breeding proves different.
What are the odds the aberrancy is genetic?
What would you breed him too?
Is he BCI or BCC? I'm thinking BCI.
What would you put the market value at? He is definitely not for sale, but I would like to know what you think.

Thanks for looking

I could be wrong, but based on the 2nd pic, I'd strongly guess that he is a she. What ever it is, it's pretty cool in the pattern dept.

I would have to agree on both counts: 1) looks female based on the tail (definitely get it probed) and 2) very cool looking snake, whatever the sex. I like 'em dark and aberrant.

As for species and market value, I would guess BCI and not worth too much more than a regular colombian of the same size until you prove it out otherwise. I might pay $100 over the going rate. Nice snake either way.

he/she straddles females like it's prom night. He has really big spurs for his size, and he had to go potty really bad when I took the pics. He did so right after and was much smaller. Could that be what you’re seeing? I will get it probed to be sure, but he sure likes the ladies.

The last pics says it all. Looks female to me too. Getting it probed is a good idea. You can always go by spurs.

I think it still looks like a female from the top, but it just may be the angle. Large spurs often are males - so who knows. Some females have been know to court other females.

"Some females have been know to court other females."

You can say that again...

Had it probed by an experienced herper and its a male for sure. Sperm plugs and all. This guys is ready. Now I need to find a lady friend for him.
