Hi everyone. I have a male Albino Bull Snake that isn't looking so good these days, and I can't figure out what happened. I have a vet appt scheduled, but the earliest I could get him in is next week. Until then, I'd like to get your advice and/or opinions about this guy.
Hawker is a 2006 male who has been very healthy and growing well. Lately he can't keep food down, has diarreah, and has lost a LOT of weight. He is visibly skinny, and just looks sad.
Here is his feeding chart for the past few months:
4/28/08 - 3/RSA
5/5/08 - 2/RSA
5/12/08 - 1/RSA 1/RLA
5/26/08 - 1/RSA
6/2/08 - 1/RSA
6/9/08 - 1/RSA
6/16/08 - 1/RSA
6/30/08 - R
7/7/08 - 1/RSA
7/13/08 - V
7/28/08 - R
8/26/08 - 1/RPp
8/28/08 - V
RLA = Large Adult Rat
RSA = Small Adult Rat
RPp = Rat Pup
R = Refuse
V = Regurge
What gets me is how fast he lost the weight. Only a month and a half a go he was still nice and healthy looking.
He has a large water dish, and aspen bedding to burrow in. Warm side is 85 and cool is usually around 70 at night and 75 during the day. He is Captive Bred and has never been sick before. Housed alone, and tub is always kept clean.
Any ideas on what caused this? Would an internal parasite be something the vet should look for? Could he have gotten a bad rat?
Thanks in advance for any help!
