Rolling into Daytona at 4:00 am Friday morning found the city grey and awash with showers from TS Fay. By daylight few people seemed to be out and about and I felt sympathy for vendors who would soon be unloading into the convention center. By Saturday morning the skies had begun to relent and the more familier sun was seen to appear. The faithful gathered at the entry steps until at last the doors opened and allowed the early comers to walk in, though this was only a teaser as the main floor was still closed for another 45 minutes. As always the energy levels were high as people sought to enter and see those many lifeforms that awaited on the floor below! At last the show opened and the wave of 1st arrivers swept in and spread about in search of their herp dream or so it seemed. I was happy to cast about and see familier faces unseen for years now, and make new acquaintances as well. The genus Pituophis was represented well, though adult animals were few and far between. By Sunday the crowd had diminished considerably and viewing animals was easy indeed. 5:00 pm arrived all too soon and yet another show now drifted slowly away, lost in the mists of time but held within our collective thoughts. Thanks to Billy and John, Jason and Noctunal Tom... Let's do it again! Tom James
