I think.....(long post)

The next door neighbor is going to be really mad at me! I was able to get her to court, by the way, back in early July, but didn't want to speak of the subject on here for a while. I was able to get money for vet bills, money for the gas I bought going back and forth to the vet clinic, and an order to stay 30ft away from my animals and I. Anyway, back to the subject. My neighbor hates me already for having animals in captivity, but she will really hate me now! I was talking around, and I found someone who will put up a 7ft tall wooden fence in my backyard for $1300. I'm having the fence put up two weeks from this date. Now the neighbor will have nothing to worry about. She won't have to see my biggest sulcata tortoise 'suffering' while he is walking around my 1.5 acre backyard. She won't have to see my dogs 'trying to break free' while they are doing their business outside. And best of all, I won't have to deal with her when I want to go out in the yard!

Good, I hope it helps! And although, unfortunatly, it's unlikely, I hope they have learned their lesson! I'm just glad you animals made it through ok!

I know for a fact they didn't learn their lesson. She wouldn't do it again simply because this costed her more than she prepared for. I honestly don't think they have any emotion at all towards animal life. The saddest thing about the situation is that she has a dog herself. She claims to be an animal lover, but I see nothing loving about poisoning a perfectly happy dog, who did nothing to deserve it.

Wow, you must have presented some great case!
Good for you.
That must have taken a bunch of time, including prep for the court date. I hate court dates, they're the worst kinda date!

Have you checked w/local city/county ordinance re:the fence height? Some places don't allow over 5'. not that I think your doing the wrong thing - sounds like it would be better at 10 or 15'! Just wondering if she is vindictive, it would be a drag to have to chop off a foot or two.

Here is Maui we have a family of bushes called panax. Lotsa members in the family and all grow fast. They're a great way to loose a lousy neighbor real quick...
Anyway, great news about the court thingy.

I can have up to an 8ft fence. Another thing I won't have to worry about is the neighbor's brother trying to shoot snakes in my backyard, near my sulcata pen, unless he gets a ladder for that. The wierd thing is, I never had any problem with her, until her brother moved in back in December.

We had a neighbor like that.
Her boyfriend moved in and began knocking on our front door every morning complaining about us doing things like moving the fence a few inches onto "their" property during the night.
then he od'd...
Well, anyway good for you.
but try not to engage w/ her or her brother!
Your pets lives might depend on it./p

I just try to avoid the neighbors. Right now, I have a temporary tarp in the aisle way between the sulcata pen and the house, plus a tarp on the back of the sulcata pen, so I have to make almost no contact with the neighbors. My animals' lives could very well depend on my actions, so I'm not taking any chances, I'm just avoiding the situation.
