still need some help...

dove May 23, 2003 08:09 PM

*i posted this earlier this week....ANY suggestions are great!*

here's the deal....i have two females that have been mated with two different males...

both are gravid...and have been for some time.
they are both healthy eaters
one, my normal, laid a single egg back in the beginning of april that popped when i removed it but no second egg...

my jungle i got April 19th was gravid when i got her, can see the eggs and all. the previous owner said that her first clutch was a dud and that this was her first year breeding.

my normal is housed with her male partner, no enviroment changes. she had clutches last year, and one off-spring made it to term...a couple others would have made it except for human error....

the jungle is housed by herself, still in quarrenteen from April.

both setups have hide boxes, humid boxes, calcium, mealies and a heat lamp.typical temps are around mid-eighties on the hot side, 70's on the cool side.

any one have any ideas about what is going on?
is it time to make a trip to the vet? (they are eating and pooping fine...a little mass loss in the tail but to be expected for gravid females)

any suggestions would be great!

thanks
Dove

The first clutch or two from young first time breeders, especially single-egg clutches, are often duds. I wouldn't worry about that. What are their weights and ages?

Wizard is 3-4 yrs, 1st season, 55 grams

Claudia is 3 yrs in june, 2nd season, high 60's in weight (she gets testy when gravid, haven't weighed her lately)

my biggist concern is that they haven't layed in at least 6 weeks and i am almost 100% positive that they are both gravid. i'm really worried about them being eggbound. how long should i wait before being REALLY concerned?

thanks for answering
