TEST FOR ALANVINES

tylerstewart Sep 04, 2003 11:54 PM

Alan, here's a test for you. I want the sex, species and if you're really good, color morph of the 2 month old chameleons I just put in the photo album. Good Luck!

I am clueless. My uneducated guess would be veiled on top and maybe pardalis on bottom, its skin is so smooth. the one on top seems to have veiled markings and I would GUESS female, since the casque is nonexistant. looking at your other pics i would guess panther, but they really dont look like panthers either, so you proved Im not an expert if thats your intention, lol.

Ok I'm back (don't you guys have to work for a living???). Some of you were right about the picture. Well, kinda. The right answer is in fact panthers (it's hard for me to really test you guys when all I have is panthers and veileds right now). They are a female up top and a male on bottom and they are both Sambavas. That picture was taken on June 25th, and I took another one of the male who is now named "Loki" and I'll post a picture of what he looks like now (in the photo gallery) that was taken on Aug 26th. So at only 2 months older, you'll see the difference. He's not even 5 months old now and he's got a ton of color. He's starting to look similar to my other Sambava panther, Knoxville, but they're not related in any way. Thanks for playing!

Tyler Stewart-

My first guess was Sambava because the female looked an orange color, but then I saw what looks like blue dots on her checks. The male had barring on the eye and dewlap which is typical for Sambavas. The reason I guessed Nosy/Ambanja was because the blue on the female through me off, it may just be a reflection in the pic or I am just seeing things!LOL I have a Sambava female and she has no blue on her. Should have went with my fist instinct on that one! Your Sambava is showing some good colors, but has a way to go. I just took a pic of my Sambava that just turned 1 year of age last month it is below. Thanks for sharing the pics, the test was fun!LOL

Hi-

I am not Alan, but why not join in the "TEST"! Well first off you gave the species away in your question when you asked for morph for me!LOL They are F. pardalis (Panthers), the photos are not to clear but I would guess the one looking away at the screen is a female and the one down in the corner in the ficus is a male. Now because the photo doesn't show the body very well and cant make out any color in the photo, I would guess Nosy Be or Ambanja as the locale.

What the heck, I think I'll venture out with a guess too

The picture is a bit hazy, but I say female panther (upper) and a mixed locale

(lower) is the male panther.. could be a tamatave.

Whats up?
Ill join the game. I think they are either sambavas or tamataves.
Let me say sambavas. (final answer!)
