Dione Variations *pix heavy*

The humble Dione Ratsnake ... makes an excellent 'Pet' species, hardy, docile, handles like a cornsnake and excellent feeders .. and I love 'um, maybe not as attractive to some as some of the other Asian Ratsnakes, but these guys have the most amazing personalities.

That was great.

The only Dione I kept in the '80s, I gave away and remember thinking that this would make a great "pet" snake, especially if you lived in a city apartment.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Bill

Yep they stay kinda small and easily manageable, a great alternative to the cornsnake I think

Great group of Diones. I wish you lived in the USA so I could get some hatchlings from you.

Hi Randy

I wish I lived in the USA  you have some species on your side of the pond that are very scarce over here in the UK .. none of the porphys have been bred here yet and very few in collections, handfuls of coxi, lati & vallianti thats it .. subocs are very thin on the ground. If you ever got the chance, Hamm Reptile Expo in Germany is excellent for Ratsnakes. Theres also a few US breeders make it over to the show, who might bring animals back for you ?

Hi Sue,

I have 2.1 of the nicest "xian x tiger" kept myself, they are very redish, will post some pics afther Hamm.
You will come to Hamm and Houten? Maybe we can meet!

Best regards,
Gidi

Very nice group of Diones. I have a Striped Green Diones produced by Rick Cunningham of Cunningham's Elaphes. I have been trying to find a mate for it, without much luck. Keep the awesome pics coming.

Take care,
Jeff Port

Awesome, Sue! Maybe these will catch on over here in the States some day. We especially need some of those red striped animals to make it over the pond.

Thanks Toby

All they need is a good bit of PR to get them noticed, cause they are an excellent species to keep.
