Oaxacan black-tailed rattlesnake

Rob_Olivier Aug 29, 2008 02:30 AM

My newly bought 2.2 neonate Oaxacan black-tailed rattlesnakes (CB 2008) all have shedded for the first time at my place last week. Time for me to take some pictures!

Crotalus molossus oaxacus, Sierra de Cuatro Venados, Oaxaca, Mexico.

Rob, those little guys are absolutely beautiful. So many subtle colors. Your photos are themselves very nicely done. Which photography setup are you using? You must have quite a macro lens to get those little heads in such a close-up. Or are you cropping?

Thanks for the compliments!

I've used a Canon EOS 40D. For this pictures (most of the full body shots) in combination with a Canon EF 24-105mm 1:4 L IS USM lens. For the close-ups and one or two full body shots I've used a Sigma 105mm 1:2.8 DG Macro.
