Cornuta youngster arriving today

desIRCF Aug 29, 2008 11:13 AM

After all these years of having greens, I have finally succumbed to a cyclura (been wanting one for years). Was given an 8 month old rhino as a gift while I was at the Daytona Beach expo "Xan" is in lieu to a friend's place and I'll pick him/her up tonite! Quite mellow temperament for a youngster with an inquisitive nature and hearty appetite. Hopefully Xan won't be too stressed from the shipping. Just very ecstatic

Des, welcome to the "big leagues". I am admittedly biased, but cyclura are so much more fun than greens. just remember patience. it pays off

Congrats- I expect we'll see a pic soon? I've only had mine going on about 3 years- but I love him, the experience has been great and so much more rewarding than my green ever was.

Our friends Mindy and Mike will be supplying me photos Mike did a cute photo shoot of Xan last nite. Looking forwards to seeing the pics. I have some cell phone pics, but I doubt they would do Xan justice.

To bad it wasn't cuban hybrid like Melissa Kaplan's. I hear Rhino can be a pain trying to get tame. I hear they are more aggessive than other Cyclura, but I always wanted one for a long time. Congrats!

Hi, I dont think this is true. I think individuals of either species might be problematic OR they might be wonderful. Depends on how much time you spend with them as babies. It can be hard but is definitely rewarding in the end.
