Piebald Mussurana

Doug T Aug 29, 2008 02:04 PM

I thought I'd show off a recent pic of my piebald mussurana. I know you guys have heard me before on how I enjoy these guys. Just figured I'd show off a bit.

They are super easy to feed. They eat rodents well but go INSANE for snakes. I mean insane. It kind of has to be seen to be understood... they break the snakes necks, or at least try to, all the while constricting. Mine eat f/t exclusively, although I've sold one a couple years back that insists on live. My oldest pair eats small rats now.

The piebald trait is codominant. I have a female that doesn't have as much white, but I suspect the two of them will throw some gorgeous babies.

7 feet is possible, but just under 6 feet is a more typical big adult. I hook them out but once out, I handle them freely... but only during the day. I don't touch them at night when they are in hunting mode.

I should have at least 2 clutches this year, one normal black and one piebald.

You can check out my website and see more pics and caresheets and stuff.

What's the story with that silver one on your website, Doug? That thing's insane.

That's just how the color looks under certain light... that's normal. Their shininess of their skin rivals that of any snake.

You can check out David Fabius' site (linked below)for some pics of his "Super Pied".

That would be very cool.

I always need to get new better pics of my animals. Currently I'm in the process of paying off a # 622 vision for the indy. He's gettin' a bit too big (I think) for his # 432. That will free me up a cage. For awhile LOL
