My Daytona Pickups!

BrownsBoas Aug 29, 2008 09:36 PM

I spent most of my dough this year on new caging but that didn't stop me from adding a few new animals to the collection.

First a Sharp Albino Female produced by Jeff Risher.

Close up, love the burnt orange on this girl.

Okay this is my "Unicorn" the animal that has somehow eluded me for the last 10years. Every time I was working a deal for one or tryed to produce one it just didn't happen! I have had two litters that should have had snows in them with no snows! Albinos and Anerys, but no snows!!! I picked this boy up from Bryant Tannery.

Thanks for looking,

Al Brown/Brown's Boas

Nice additions, I have had the same problems with the snow, just can't get my hands on one. Should be picking up a nice Sharp though at the Anaheim show. Gotta love the colors, some Sharps hold.

I really like that sharp, kind of makes me really, really want one now, and nice snow. What are you planning for the sharp? endless ideas there.

Nice boas, that sharp is very colorful as a baby so just imagine what she will look like in a few years. Did you set your new cages up yet? Those cages that you got are very roomy. Larger females will have alot more room to move around compared to the boaphiles. I have the 7014's and 7018's for my males and they look very comfy in them and still have room to move around. I will be picking up the large rack like yours sometimes next week, I need it for my biggest females that seem to be bunched up in my boaphiles. One tip I can offer is that the bottom racks do not heat up very well with the one thermostat that comes with the rack so I used one thermostat to run the top half of both of my racks and one the other thermostat to run the bottom half of the racks. This way I still use just two thermostats but it heats the racks much better hooked up this way. If it sound confusing pm me and I will explain it to you but this way puts the heat where it needs to go. Anyway good luck with the cages (they are great cages) and boas.

Marcus, I have one of the racks setup, I bought my racks without thermostats as I already had a couple that were not being used. I opted for a Herpstat by Spyder Robotics as my controler and my racks have the E-Series insulation on them. I put the probe on the second cage from the bottom and did a 48hr temp study on each level before moving my animals into them. The variance from top to bottom was less than one degree. And Yes, my big girls are loving the extra space. I was really surprised at how much room my almost 9' albino girl had in them. I noticed this year with one of my big hets, also almost 9'! That she just didn't have the room she needed in a 4'X2' boaphile, but if you use the formula of a sqft of space per ft of snake like I do then she should have been a little cramped. Loving the new racks super easy to clean and I love how the tubs have no corners! I hate digging crap out of the corners!
