How about creamsicle albino Hondurans?

RobHaneisen Aug 29, 2008 09:51 PM

It's been a slow year for me with my Hondurans and black milks being late and smaller sized clutches but it's not a wash out by any means. And being late doesn't mean I don't have some nice surprises this year.

I'm calling these Hondurans creamsicle albinos. They are also vanishing patterned albinos as well. Essentially, I'd bet they are are hybinos. Both are from the pale line of albinos produced by Terry Dunham 3 or 4 years ago. Terry believed these were likely hybinos based on their overall muted color but could not say for sure. At a minimum they were albinos possibly het for hypo and anery. The mother is really pale whereas the male is slightly brighter. Neither is much in the way of aberrancy but this clutch of five that hatched yesterday has some vanishing pattern.

Anyway, from a genotype perspective, all I know is that this clutch are amelanistic possibly het for hypo and anery (that's what the parents both are) but from a phenotype perspective, some of this clutch definitely would appear to be hybinos (including one tri-color possible hybino). Since I can't 100% from a genotype call them hybinos, I'll call them creamsicle albinos.

Here's two of them. The flash actually made them appear a little brighter than they actually are. We'll see how they look after a shed.

Wow!,....before I even started reading your post, I said to myself.....those are some killer looking "Hybino's". Very nice indeed!

I especially like the one in the bottom photo. The inner white triad rings are very wide, and it almost resembles a "reverse" pattern!....awesome animals, man!

Thanks Doug! That last one is my favorite for sure. A real unexpected hatchling.

I call them SWEET! Very nice snakes. They definitely have a different look to them.

Can you post some pics of the rest of the clutch?

Thanks
Anthony

Thanks Anthony. Here's one of the tangerines from the clutch.

The other pic is of the mother at one year of age.

Hey Rob, those are really nice. I especially like the one on the bottom. A keeper for sure. I had a hybino that Lambert produced that looked very similar to those. Nathan Wells has it now - maybe he'll post a pic so we can see what it looks like at 2 years.

Dave:

Thanks! Here's a pic of the mother at one year and what she looks like now at 4 years old.

Those are rather unique and very cool. I think there's a lot of Hondo "looks" that haven't been tapped into yet and it looks like you've got a great selective breeding project on your hands.

The female is the lighter of the two, but both are definitely lighter (in the red bands) than my other albinos and they have that red lining on the tangerine bands.
