Trying to identify snake

transman618 Sep 01, 2008 02:07 PM

Can anyone tell me what kind of snake this is. I live in NW Georgia. I saw this snake at my job today and a couple of weeks ago. Sorry if the pic is not the greatest. It is about 2 ft long, it is black with tiny yellow dots that form what you see on the pic. It seemed kind of aggressive. It was striking at me and shaking its tail like a rattle snake. It has a small head. I know nothing about snakes and it seems that this one has found a home next to my building right at the door I use to go in and out. I dont want any surprises.

Thanks, Charles

Looks like a eastern kingsnake but seeing that it was found in NW GA that would make it an intergrade easternxblack kingsnake. They are non-venomous but can be agressive at times.

That is a Kingsnake...they are harmless and are not aggressive unless your defination of aggressive is that it might bite you if you pick it up.

A pretty interesting animal to have around.
