Eddie's natural terrarium pictures. I've also included links of other natural terrariums I have floating around the house. ^_^ All the plants spent the summer out on the front porch, so some of them had a growth explosion and some were chewed by grasshoppers. I washed all plants thoroughly before putting them in the terrariums; I don't want to have the gnat problems I had back in May. Eddie spent the first three hours in this tank wandering and sniffing all through it. He seemed a little perturbed by the rocks I have in the bottom for drainage, but he moved some of them around easily. I didn't try to use mesh screens this time to keep him out of it, I used a different method, which should work well.

Love it! That baby fire skink is gonna be thrilled to have that tank all to himself, nicely done. It's always a breath of fresh air to see some natural vivs.

Waht kind of "air plants" are you using, have you found them strong enough to handle the snake slithering over them?

They're bromeliads... mostly tillandsias. The plants are actually quite sturdy, almost the density of cacti, but without thorns, obviously. In the corn's tank, I used aquarium sealant to glue two bromeliads to his tree stump and the one in Eddie's tank is just planted in the dirt. Two of my bromeliads died on the front porch this summer (probably way too hot), but some survived. I try not to put them directly under the heat lamp in the terrariums, if I can help it.

Yeah, I hope the skink enjoys his tank, I tried to give him lots of plants to hide under, so he shouldn't be stressed.

Yep, that would be the ones I was talking about. Bromeliads or air plants.

Eddie's tank looks very comfortable. I have a question though....that log hide in the tank, isn't it cedar? I may be wrong.

It's not cedar. I don't remember what type of wood it is, it's been a long time since it was purchased.
