Found this weird baby King last night, cool pattern (LOL).

The little “claris” was let go just off the road moments later, safe and unharmed. It was surprisingly calm when picked up.

Also saw 5 DOR Kings including a Stripped Desert Phase; no pics, they were too dead and, therefore, no fun.

From what I see - that's got perfect banding.
Nice find!

That would be a long nosed snake, not a kingsnake. Close relative though.

Found a pic of an adult with very little red. I bet that's what the baby might look like eventually. ^_^

You can see some of the red coming in at the back of it.

Yo Dude!!!! I don't think that is a King! Looks to me like a Longnose that has little or no red. Look how pointed the snout is. I used to catch those all the time on lower S2 outside the Anzo-Borrego State Park. Cool little dudes. Just my $0.02!

I've found them black and white, some with a little red on them...and then some with A LOT OF RED.

I found this one in New Mexico a few years back.

a King. It is a "claris" phase Longnose snake. I thought it was a baby King when I first saw it crawling off the road but as soon as I saw the head realized what it was. After picking it up the other give aways were the fadded black bands towards the belly and the slight pink speckling in the white areas. They do kinda look like a king though. It is amazing how different these can look even when found within a few feet of each other, some with high red and some with none.

The red on the one Kerby had the pic of is awesome.

That's a little beauty! Did you get a nice "raspberry" musking? I've only ever found DOR claris.

I hear Longnoses might be lumped in with lampropeltis eventually, so maybe it is a King after all!
