What makes a pastel? Can someone please explain what makes them different from normals. Is it just that they are lighter colored?

a pastel is a base morph so you need a pastel to get pastel babies. The difference is coloring like you mention some have a light greenish color like you are mentioning and some have a yellow coloring, (so refer to these as lemon pastels). What makes them special is all the genetic combinations you can make with them such as super pastels, bumble bees, killer bees, pastel clowns, pastel pieds, the list goes on and on.

Hope this helps,
matt
