Wanna see some RED?

jeff favelle Sep 01, 2008 05:24 PM

I cannot believe these guys and how they are turning out. When I first saw Bredl-Jags 4 years ago, I hated them. Or at least, I hated the ones I saw. They reminded me of brown, ugly Irian Jayas. Nothing appealed to me. Which is funny, because I don't know what compelled me to try it myself this year. But I'm glad I did. Probably just dumb luck, but these thing blow my socks off everytime. And this is just the tip of the iceberg!

I did almost everything I wanted to do with yellow. I now turn my sights to red....

Be warned, the last 3 are intense!

very nice jeff! do you anticipate that they will keep the reds or do you think they red will change to a darker color?

Thanks man! The plan is to make these things STAY red. Bredli start out brown as babies, and get more red with age. Much like Jungles do with yellow. So its my hope to keep putting the most red back into these guys and keep them that way. So really, this is just step 1. But if they are already this red at this point, I think I just got a huge jump-start to my project!!!!!

Imagine this, but in cherry red!!

Bredls jags are defintiely one of those snakes that have to be seen in person to really appreciate them. When they age, the yellows they get are difficult to capture in pics in my experience.

So what exactly is the background on those? They look great!

One of our 75% Bredls Jags just shed today...it was the first to have a second shed from the clutch. He is ridiculously patterned. It seems the Bredls Jags can have alot of banding and/or thick dark pattern.

Congrats again!

It was just a Coastal Jag x Bredli female. They were basically born red...I hope it gets more intense. I've found Bredli babies to be brownish, getting more red with age. I hope to keep the yellow down as much as possible with these....
