The Value of Doing it right- Thanks to this forum!

This is my first post but I've been lurking for some time. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here who helped me in becoming the proud owner of my very first Leo, who is also my first herp. I never posted but didn't need to as it seemed that someone else always had the same questions that i did. I spent tons of time on this forum reading all the questions and answers, and learned so much. Thanks to you guys I didn't buy my lizard from Petco as I had planned but found a good breeder in my area. I had it's housing all set up before I got it and didn't fall for being sold all kinds of stuff i didn't need at my local store. The guy there insisted i needed a UV light but I knew better and told him so. I have had McGee my Leo for two weeks and he is a very active, healthy and rapidly growing little guy, whom I'm crazy about. It's so worth doing the research and taking the time to set things up properly. My poor husband was kind of amused at it all and made remarks like "It's cost nearly a hundred bucks for housing one little lizard, how do these things ever survive in the wild?" Heh! Again thanks a lot for helping me to make getting my first lizard a great experience. I have a feeling that one's not going to be enough though as I'm already hooked. Cheers, Robin

My 1 little leo turned into 5 so far with the 6th on the way. Alot of people don't understand the attraction to a lizard that stays hidden alot of the time, but I love all mine for each of their personalities. I have been reading and posting to the forum for some time now, and am just now getting to experience some of the cooler things I've seen mentioned. For instance, I just now have gotten a new leo that "talks". He squeaks when he attacks mealworms, or you pick him up, its pretty funny. Anyway, welcome aboard, glad to have you join us.

Congrats on getting your leo, they are wonderful aren't they !?!

I've had a few tanks setup for months in anticipation of getting more hehehe. Its hard to have just one I've found a great breeder and have finally chosen which of the many she has that i'm going to get. I didn't want to get to many seeing as i like to baby them lol, i'm investing in more 20gal's and maybe another 36" tank (i think 22 gal?) so each gecko can have its own large space. The money i've spent and will spend is more than worth it for these guys

Red (gone giddy for geckos)
