I would like everyones opinions on baby rack systems. What do you have and what are the negatives and positives of these racks? I think I know what I want to order but want keeper feedback as to their situations.
Sincerely,
Joe

Cant beat ARS. No complaints at all!
I've used home made and brand name racks and cages. A few years ago I switched to Animal Plastics. Great product and the best customer service. I have one of their 9 level sterilite shoe box hatchling racks. The fit of every box is incredible. I wanted a hatchling rack that would keep in the smallest hatchlings, boxes that would slide in and out without a jerky water bowl spilling action, and provide consistent heat on all levels. I work with locality red milks that are so small that yearlings have some difficulty taking down a day old pinky. I've never had one escape from this rack. I have also kept baby Nics, balls, and hognose in the same rack. No problems.
In my opinion, the hands down best choice for a hatchling rack is AP. Wish I had a second or third hatchling rack.

Joe:
I own two 30 count Boaphile hatchling racks and will be ordering a third one from Jeff very soon. Mine have the silver knobs on the tubs.
I coudn't be happier with them.

I have three of the boaphile rhinoraxx - 30 slots each for a total of 90 slots. Very nice racks, belly heat, close tollerance, CLEAR polycarbonate tubs with NO poop trap corners. Working great for me.
I have a combo sterilite rack/workbench I built. Works great but the non smooth tub floors can be a pain to clean.
Also have a used AP 45 slot rack - just using for the first time. Tubs seem a little larger. Not had babies in there long enough to form a solid oppinion yet.
Lastly have a melamine sterilite based rack I picked up from Barry Berg. Same issue with non flat tub floors and the gaps are a bit tight on the top shelf from sagging. But works just fine other than that.

I have only heard good things about boaphile and AP racks. I have seen both and they look very well made in my opinion. Now if you wanted to try making your own here is some info on one I made.
This rack system has lots of air flow around it and it is on wheel so you can move it around when you need to. I used a wire shelving system and the Sterilite 15 qt. tub # 1754 for baby boas and the Sterilite 74 qt. tub # 1969 for sub adults and boas about 6 feet long and less than 12 to 15 lbs. The 1754 tub measures 17 inches x 11 inches x 6 - 3/8 inches and the 1969 tub measures 44 inches x 19 - 3/4 inches x 6 - 3/8 inches. I also used 4 inch flexwatt along the back of each shelf to heat the tubs. This set up cost me about $350 to make. Bought the shelving at Sam's Club. I had to buy to sets so I would have enough shelving to make this one.

Take care
Tom
