OT Herp Expert Request

archaeo1 Sep 04, 2008 10:26 AM

Sorry for posting here but I know some of you are very serious experts in the field and might know who I should contact. Long story short: I am helping out some people in a conservation organization in Belize in an area where venomous snakebites are frequent enough to be of serious concern. I am looking for someone who is knowledgeable about Central American poisonous snakes and treatment of snakebite there to help with an inquiry about treatment approaches. Anyone know who I should talk to? Thanks! I promise to talk alternas next time! --Henry W.

I'd recommend the SSSS method.

Slash, squeeze, suck, spit.

I'll post a link to my book as soon at it is published.

(Stupid reader notice: Don't try this at home. Ever! I'm what you would call an "expert". I'm specially trained to do stupid sh- that could result in death for all of you lesser humans.)

At the Kentucky Reptile Zoo in Slade, KY would be your best bet.

Brad,

I would have to disagree. Jim Harrison just extracts venom from snakes. He is not a snake bite expert.

I would suggest:

Dr. L.H. Van Mierop
Dr. Sean Bush
Dr. Craig Kitchens
Dr. Findlay Russell
Dr. Dave Hardy
Bill Haast
George Van Horn
Carl Barden
