Genetics question - Moonglows

jscrick Sep 04, 2008 01:39 PM

If I breed a Sunglow to a Ghost, do I get all visual Salmons/Hypos, 100% triple het. for Moonglow? Not sure if triple het. for Moonglow is the correct terminology.
Any other combinations for the same results?

Let me see if I have this correct.

Sunglow x Ghost =

75% triple het moonglow (visual hypo)
25% double het snow

Correct me if I'm wrong.

>>75% triple het moonglow (visual hypo)
>>25% double het snow

The TH Moonglows are 33% possible supers (homozygous hypo)

To get a known tripple het, at a minimum, one parent must be Visual albino, one must be a visual Anery and one must be a visual hypo. Those traits can be mixed in any way within the parents...

Moonglow x normal
Snow x Hypo
Ghost x Albino
Sunglow x Anery

Those are all the minimal pairings that can produce TH Moonglows that I can think of. Of course you can get more from the pairings if more genes are present. For example

Snow x DH Sunglow
Ghost x Sunglow
Super Ghost x Albino
etc.

To get an entire litter of TH Moonglows, one of the animals used has to be a super hypo (homozygous hypo)

Super Moonglow x normal
Snow x Super Hypo
Super Ghost x Albino
Super Sunglow x Anery
