JCP Incubation Paramters

VinnyButch Sep 04, 2008 04:40 PM

I made a big trade with someone and part of the trade was an adult pair of JCPs. While I was getting everything situated and everyone in their cages, I housed the pair together for about an hour.
Well, when I went to take out the male to put him in his cage, he was locked up tight with the female, so of course I didn't seperate them. This went on and off for about 24 hours, and finally I put him in his own cage.
Apparently the young man did his job well, because I'm now expecting a clutch of JCP eggs.
I want to have the incubator up, running and just ready for the eggs, instead of doing everything at the last moment.
My question is, at what temperature and what humidity do JCP eggs incubate best? And how long can I expect to wait for them to hatch if everything goes well?

Thanks in advance,
Vinny

You are indeed a lucky man!
Temp about 87 - 90 F.
Humidity as high as you can get it.
incubation time around 50 - 55 days.

Sloop John B,

Thanks for the information. And yes, I've got a pretty good idea of how lucky this was! I'll keep the forum up on my progress.

Thanks again,
Vinny
