This is my Loe's new home. h dont think he likes it much because its small and he is used to his 20L but i brought him with me to school (even though im not supposed to) because i just couldnt leave him behind. i was wondering if anyone had any ideas how to make his tank better so he enjoys it more ...like maybe a seccond level? please let me know if you have any ideas/ suggestions. i have posted a picture of his new home above, but it looks better in person i just feel like he doesnt have enough room. he keeps rubbing his face along the glass and trying to climb out as well. helpp!!!!!

Well, one thing I can think of is it is probably a lot busier, louder, and more brightly lit than he's used to as well. We have found that construction paper (that stuff you played with in school) taped to the outside of the enclosure on up to three sides can make the gecko feel more secure - Especially in a new environment. Remember, moving was probably stressful for him too.

As for levels, in a 10 gal it is hard to get a ramp or something properly set up, and I'm not sure that would really help... but if you have seen those "reptile hammocks" in any pet chain store, you could go with those. Just make sure the suction cups are secure and that you lock the enclosure top because the height give him access to it. Trust me, they are little escape artists and most people think they can't reach that high, but always assume they can or will bounce or else the next post will be, "Help, my gecko escaped!"

Best I can offer, college is not really the best place for reptiles or pets of any kind. I had to give up my bunny when I left.

It's all new. Perhaps he isn't "unhappy" so much that he is checking everything out.

That's a 20 Gallon tall right?....he should be fine in it. I used to have my two blizzard females in a 20 gallong verticle for a couple of months and they did fine. I have also tried the 2nd level thing and had some success. First I purchased one of those foam backgrounds from Petsmart and then I placed four rocks in the corners of the tank. Next I cut a little bit of the foam background off (as a doorway between floors). I placed the foam background facing upwards as to show the "naturalistic detail" on top of the 4 rocks. Now the geckos could choose to go into their "cave layer" or go up top to bask or climb around. I use sand, so then I sprinkled sand at the top of the foam and it genuinely looked like a natural cave (the cool part is that an observer can see both underneath the cave layer and on top. That's just my 2cents. Right now your gecko is probably on using about a third of the tank height-wise.
