That looks like a young one. What part of the country did you catch it in. I've seen a few in my area(Louisisna). Here's a pic of my old female.

I caught it in Jackson County, NC (western NC). I was thinking Queen snake (R. septemvittata).

I believe thats a Queen's Snake as well It's hard to tell from the pics. Does it have keeled scales?....TC

Now that I know the location, I think you are right. Nice find, I haven't seen one of those since I lived in Pa. Are you going to try and keep it? They are hard to feed sometimes.

The scales are keeled, but the snake was so small, it was difficult to tell. Unfortunately, I was not able to keep it.

wow that is something i havent seen in years, a mason jar,my mom used to use them when i was a kid. nice find!

Yes, I tried and tried as a kid to drill holes in the ones my Mom had but they alway broke.I just ended up using coffee cans.Killer litte cage set up anyway.
