Frequent Urination

rottenweiler9 Sep 05, 2008 09:18 PM

Hello,

So I am getting a little worried. I read the past posts but did not see what the result was. My snake is peeing every other day. This just started. I changed him from Aspen back to paper. (Apsen was a pain). Not sure why this is. He still has his normal feeding response, and thermoregulates, but ever since I changed back he pees every other day, and there is not a lot of water missing from his bowl, and read it could be caused from his thawed food. The only other thing is when I got this food it was a little more thawed out then usual, because they did not put enough dry ice in it. (I may have answered my question) What are the thoughts on this, could this still be kidney failure. He had RI a year ago, and a couple rounds of shots, still eats like a champ though.

Thank you

Jeff

Jeff,
You know what you've got to do & you know that I'm going to say it. "Get him to the Vet."

With all you've said it could be several different things, but it becomes a guessing game for us. I don't think the F/T rodents are to blame, though. I suppose it's possible, but in my opinion it's very unlikely.

What was the humidity level in the cage after changing back to kraft paper?

I'm sorry to hear about your situation but I think it's too early to think doom & gloom. Yeah, I'd be concerned, too, but I'd remove as much guess work as possible by seeing a Vet ASAP.

Hang in there & keep us informed.

Thats the thing, it was instantaly, like the next day. Humidity levels are the same.

I will take him to the vet and see what they say.

Between now & the Vet visit maybe try different substrates. If you're using newspaper, try the brown craft paper or some other type of paper. Or vice-versa. Whichever applies. Try pine shavings, maybe even go back to aspen just to see if he continues to urinate so frequently.

Even though you said his appetite is the same and all I wonder if maybe he's reacting to the cage change. It "p"s me off when my wife changes the furniture around.

Hang in there!

I am going to test somthing the next couple days. I have also noticed he pees when I change the water. I have been doing that every couple days.

Hahahahhaa nice. So you often find your self peeing on the chair instead of where the kitty litter box was. I found it best just to do whatever, whenver, because she does. I let you know how that works out, when I have to file next year. Hahahahhaha

My burm just loves, loves water. I still have yet to take him to the vet. My dog's $4000 knee surgery kind of put that hold and took center stage for a while. But the snake drinks water, swims his head in the water. If I change the water, he crawls over there just to stick his head in it. What concerns me is the lack of appetite that seems to accompany it. I don't know, he's my first and only Burm, but I can pinch the loose skin on him sometimes, you know.
