Little heads everywhere......

rainbowsrus Sep 05, 2008 09:53 PM

Bullseye as anticipated, has dropped a huge litter. I'd estimate 30+ !!!

Watched and photographed the tail end (duh - pun intended) of them being born and am now pulling them as they free themselves from the sacks.

Will post pics and stats later, should have some more good birthing pics!!!!

Is a pretty cool litter, I was very close with my 30+ estimate, total is 30!!

Born at POS + 118 days, 30 babies, no slugs, no stills!

1 - 26 Grams
2 - 27 Grams
5 - 28 Grams
8 - 29 Grams
9 - 30 Grams
5 - 31 Grams

Average 29.2 grams each

Here she is, in her damp moss tub, still dropping babies.

a few pics of one baby coming out

So awesome to see how maternal she really is. Checking on and nudging babies around. A few more pics of her interacting with one baby still in it's sack.

More babies fresh out of vent....

A really light looking baby.

Mom interacting with various babies....

Lots of yawning going on but hard to catch them in pics...

The pile o slimers after removing mom...

Look at all those heads poking up, how many can you spot, I've identified 19 in this pic...

One more popped it's head up on this one for a total of 20...

EEWWWWW, the reality of babies - SLIME!!! This is what it looks like after all the babies are pulled.....

OMG Dave that is a HUGE litter!!!!!!!!

These pictures made me hurt inside because they are so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahhhh! Over excitement for BABIES! Congrats Dave!! I can't wait until my ladies drop me some living slimeballs.

One of your girls will be put into the breeding lineup for 2009, Dave. Mauve has gotten pretty big. Her sister, Bisque, isn't far behind, but not quite up to breeding size yet.

Woo!

Thanks Aubrey, It was pretty amazing to watch her poking and prodding her babies. Kind of like a mom on the first day of school getting all her children up and out of bed and off into the world.

It's always fun having slimeballs. Don't be too dissapointed if you don't get to see it, more often than not I find either a pile of already born babies or a cage with babies out cruising. Not often I catch a female actually giving birth.

Glad to hear Mauve is looking good to go!!! Bisque will make it on her own time. I have one just like that, Amber, a 2005 baby was not bred last year - simply too small. But has gained a lot this year and should be good to go a year after her other holdback friends!

I'm with you on that - the mom interacting with babies shots are really cute. And that's coming from a guy, so it probably counts at least double.

Thanks Step, 30 is definitely above average!! That brings her up to 94 babies in 4 litters and the first litter was only 10!!

Yeah, was already thinking that. 10 and 20 back to back, a year off then 34 and 30 back to back.
