Uromastyx Cages

zetaphidiablo Sep 07, 2008 11:31 AM

Im trying to get some ideas on building cages for my Uros. I have three (2 males 1 female) I will most likely be building 2 cages. Im leaning towards melamine as the material..but wanted to see if anyone has some shots of their current Uro enclosures. Please don't send me pics of tanks since im already at that point. Also if anyone has any good sources on how to make fake rock work for the enclosure that would be outstanding. Either post them here or email them to me at shbrehob@hotmail.com

Thanks
Shawn

I don't have much to contribute to this since I have not kept Uromastyx ssp. in many years and don't have any pictures of how I housed them.

One thing I do want to mention is how melamine makes it easier to build cages large enough to accomodate full 48" light fixtures since it comes in sheets that are 1" oversized from standard -- 49" x 97" instead of 48" x 96".

Even if you don't use 48" fluorescent fixtures now I think it's a good idea to leave room for them in the future. Oil based stain and paint is going to be illegal in the US by 2011 so who knows what sorts of light bulbs will be available to those keeping heliophilic lizards.
