Sick python update with photo

Dillon Sep 07, 2008 04:09 PM

Hi I posted earlier about a stargazing python. Here is a picture of the behavior she is exhibiting. It seems to come and go throughout the day, I do not believe she sleeps in this fashion is that helps.

She might have a RI - they will hold their heads up to help them breath better - has she seen a vet yet?

I remeber you saying that there are no Herp Vets in your area. This might be a respiretory issue as stated in the previous reply. A key factor in Stargazers is that the snake will go into a shead like state (smokey-blue eyes). Your pic does not seem to be in such a state(I could be wrong). The Horse/Cow Vet could do some research and try an antibiotic to combat RI. I do have 3 questions for you. 1. Does the ball open it mouth as if slightly yawning? 2. If yes, Do you here a slight "pop", almost a click? 3. When the head is held up does it fall back?

She does seem to open her mouth a lot now. I haven't seen any mucus or anything but she does seem to hiss/wheeze every now and then. I will try and find a competent vet and see if i can get her in. In the mean-time i have given her a UTH on all night and put a towel over the excess of the screen to try and trap some more heat for her, is that what i should be doing?
