I know there are het pied markers. I've even heard of het clown marker. ( never seen one) heavy moustaching (sp?). Ok my question is are there such things as het albino markers? If so what r they?

Recessive mutations do not have any visible markers, the het pied marker is hogwash, old marketing strategy to move possible Het-Pieds back then...
Hi Yall,
Well to be honest Medusah must not own any het pieds. The true 100% het pieds I have ALL from well known reliable breeders have perfect markers!! There is no question about the marker being present. The clutch of 50% het pieds I have right now from het to normal breeding have 2 that show great markers and 2 that look perfectly normal. I know which ones I would buy!!!!
I have heard of a few without markers producing pieds but that is much less common. Frankly, I would not even own a het pied that lacked it. It is a good selling point and it also is carried in the het offspring. VERY handy when breeding het to het. I would never call a 50% poss het a full het none the less no matter what kind of marker it had. Just too many variables.
That and the fact that I have 0.4 normal (pastel and mojave sibs) that show a nice "het pied" marker. SO IT IS certainly not fool proof, JUST A Guide to go by. There is almost ZERO chance that they are het pied.
As far as other dom/rec genes go. It is in the eye of the beholder. Most of my het ghosts are ODD but nothing definate about them. I keep mostly the orange/butterscotch types and the hets are at least really pretty and have a lot of orange. I certainly would not define them as such!! I think that is line breeding for simply the best colored ghosts available. SIMPLE as that.
The het clowns I have seen in person show some interesting color traits but not much more than that. Whether there is more to it I would have to personally own them and know what to look for. Even that could vary from one line to the next.
Some people swear that het g stripes are usually black back but I do not think it defines the het. Certainly does seem more common in the het g stripes. NONE of my hets are black backs yet I know that some are het none the less.

There is no guide to go by, I have four adult proven breeder het-pieds, 2 with markers and 2 without, the two without are proven Pied producers, with Het-Pieds without markings existing, the marker theory goes out the door, no if and buts....
Now if all Het-Pieds had the marker, we'd all be singing a different tune...
People can believe what they want, facts are there...
But 50% of yours do have the marker! Breeders with larger sample sizes have reported around 80%.
"Recessive" and "Co dominant" are just classifications people made up that fit many but not all morphs. But we don't really make the rules and piebald in ball pythons seems to be like green and labyrinth in Burmese pythons in that even though we consider them recessive they have significant co-dominant tendencies.
If you want to ignore the piebald markers because they aren't 100% consistent that is your prerogative. But here is a great great granddaughter of a piebald that I decided to keep based on her markers in spite of her low on paper odds of being a het pied after 4 consecutive generations of outbreeding.

i'd have kept her too !
good luck w/her, ck
I still would not own a het pied that did not have markers.
Some hets do not have markers. I just do not want them. I want the markers on all of my babies and it is more likely to occur in females that have the marker.
In reality I have yet to see a KNOWN 100% het pied that lacked the marker. I have looked at probably 40-50 100% het pieds some the marker is more distinct but all in all it has ALWAYS been there. I own 3.5 het pieds 1.3 poss het pieds and a pied all the 100% hets have very distinct markers. one even has a little ringer on it.
What would the average customer want in their het pied? A MARKER plain and simple.
