10g snakes

chenderson421 Sep 09, 2008 09:32 AM

I have several xtra 10g aquariums laying around and just wondering what all types of snakes could be kept (as adults) in them? any suggestions?

Hognose snakes are the first that come to mind. They are a great little snake and will live in a 10 gal no problem. They are probably the most interesting out of the snakes that I keep.

Mexican milksnakes will do great their whole lives in 10g tanks.

Male sand boas could be comfortably housed in a 10g enclosure for life, another option to consider.

A few things that come to mind are..

Rubber Boas
some of the smaller Sandboas
Western Hognose

for these species the females can get larger, but males stay small enough to spend their whole lives in a 10 gallon.

Some of the smaller Asian Ratsnakes, like the Twin-spotted Ratsnake stay pretty small as well and are very hardy.

A garter snake or a ribbon snake would do well in that setup.
