Are there any good monitor books out there?

IndyShark Nov 28, 2005 07:31 PM

I would like to read some more about monitors in general and ackies and Storr's monitors in particular. Does anyone have any recomendations?

I already have Monitors, Tegus, and Related Lizards by Richard D. Bartlett, as well as General Care and Maintenance of Popular Monitors & Tegus by Michael Balsai

Thanks!

Save them for the pretty pictures. The best books on monitors are as follows (captive care) "varanus Exanthematicus, the truth about Savannah Monitors", followed by Robert Fausts "Nile Monitors". About biology the following is untouched "Monitors, the biology of varnaid lizards" by King and Green, next for the field researcher a big reference book by the late Dennis King and many others "Varanoid Lizards of the World", followed by "Australian Goannas". Very little good or even decent books worldwide on captive care of monitors at all. All of the others are good for paper weights and pretty pictures only.
