I've been looking at Ackies since a recent Reptiles article. I'd invite feedback on a couple of questions:
First, I commonly see owners refering to raising small groups of three or four together. I have no interest in breeding but do they naturally live in small social or familial groups? What are the effects of keeping a single animal?
Second, Reds v. Yellows? Seems like there are differing opinions but I don't often read where they are described as similarly docile. I've been around reptiles all my life so I know 'tame' is a pretty relative term...but I have kids that participate so I want to reduce my risk of lost fingers.
Lastly, where to find them. I won't purchase until Spring but I'd like to get a sense of good breeders. Right now not too much on Varanus.com and the ads on Kingsnake are a bit hit and miss for the Ackies at least.
