Need some help finding good sites.

BlakeDeffenbaugh Jul 15, 2006 02:33 PM

I got a pair of Ackies a few days ago, I already know the care and all that good stuff. Their hot spot is in the 130 to 145 range with a general temp of about 87 to 90. But I cant find any good sites about breeding or anything of that matter. Of what a good weight is (to me they look a little skinny but full grown I think they just need to bulk up a little). I've read ProExotics care but nothing about breeding in there. If any of you know any good sites please let me know.
Thanks,
Blake Deffenbaugh

Were'd you get your ackies from?

Not that many sites that I've found but check around for some of the other forums.

I got them from a friend of mine who has been haveing some health problems so I helped him out and got them. He didnt feel he was able to give the care they really needed so I got a good deal. The are about 2 years old, she laid 2 infertil eggs a month ago or so, so I figure if I can get them to a good weight here in a few months they will be layin good clutches for me. I got them in a 40gal breeder with a ceramic heating eliment, florecent lights for the UV's, dirt for the substrate, and lots of wood for basking and hideing.

Hello Blake, I would suggest that you read past posts on varanus.net; you can search their forum for whatever questions you may have, as they have probably been past topics... Deffinately check out some of the peoples ackie setups on there for good ideas for your own. Also many people stear clear of using the ceramic heaters, 60 watt incandescents work just fine if at the right height to acheive a hot spot of 135-150. But if you spend the time reading about peoples past experiences on there you will find alot of helpful information! Good luck to you!
