Ackie Temperment?

bbg454 Dec 13, 2007 09:12 AM

I have been dealing with balls and boas for over a decade and recently was stricken with the lizard bug (thanks to a crested gecko). I have been checking out Beardies and Ackies and cant decide what I want. I love the look of the ackies but love the temperament of the beardies. I have not had the opportunity to be "hands on" with any ackies at this point and was wanting an honest assessment of Ackie Temperament. Are they aggressive? Do they have to be actively tamed, are they more mellow in a group or alone? Which sex is more prone to biting? etc...

Any input is appreciated, Thanks for your time.

I have both. I bought a Beardie for my daughter because they basically don't move. It sits around for a bit then strolls here and there. They hold quite still when held. But enough about Beardies. Ackies are far more interesting although they are not a pet to be held. I can hold mine but they rarely hold still. Ackies also require more involvement in their husbandry if you want them to thrive. You won't regret getting an Ackie, they are extremely entertaining and a joy to keep. The ones I have had the males were much more laid back than the females.
