Steel trough for ackies

How many ackies could you house in a steel trough that is 2x2x6L
I want to get a colony?

A steel trough of the size you are talking about is great for Ackies. I would say that 1.4 would be the max because you can't really have more than one male. Sometimes you can get away with 2 males if their are many hidespots but the dominate male will likely do all the breeding anyway. Use about 12 inches of substrate packed down hard and check frequently for eggs. Better yet, what i do is use a shallow substrate and add an egg laying box with 12 inches of substrate such as soil or coconut bark so i know where the eggs will be. RJ

That's the issue I have about keeping too many females together. It's difficult to keep an eye on who's doing what and when.
