Argus x Flavi substrate and questions

Skateboarder001 Feb 04, 2005 07:59 PM

I am going to be ordering my Argus x Flavi cross within the next week.I was wondering what would be the best substrate to use. What kind of sand/soil mixture. Also how would I set up a basking spot I could not realy find any caresheets on the Argus x Flavi,Do they like to bask on branches or should I lay logs on the bottom of the enclosure with the basking light over a nice size log so it can bask on top.I am going to be paying $270 shipped does this sound like a reasonable price.Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the replys guys.I still dont know what I should use for a substrate. The monitor is going to be a hatchling or I can get one that is a few months old,but I think im going to get the hatchling because it will give It time to get use to me.

Flavies like sand, arguses supposedly like soil (although the sand I've got mine on is working better than any soil I've tried). I would guess crosses are somewhere in between.

I just set up a bunch of floodlights pointed at a reasonable sized spot. They'll climb branches if you give them the opportunity, but they are first and foremost ground lizards so you don't really need them.

Do you think one would be worth $270? Would the enjoyment it gives you be worth more? If so, then it is a reasonable price.
