thinking of getting a flavi/argus cross

lizardman77 Feb 12, 2005 08:06 PM

hey,
i have seen a couple of baby flavi/argus crosses floating around and was thinking of picking a couple up. my question is when they breed them, does the temperment of the flavi calm down the temperment of the argus. now before any jumps down my throat i know that not all argus' are fiesty but overall i have heard they are. i am assuming that is why they breed them togethr plus it makes them smaller than an average argus. and pics of adult crosses would be greatly appreciated as well. and other info is appreciated too

I don't have any crosses but I think the crosses are supposed to be calmer and grow a little smaller than an argus. I am thinking of getting a young pair of crosses. I am limiting myself on how many reptiles I own, so I would have to sell one of my arguses to get them. I am not sure if I can part with either of my arguses though. I really like them because they are very active and inquisitive.

I sold a big frilled dragon (it was about as big as my arguses are) because it was not active and boring.

i can buy him from you and since we talk pretty often you can stay in close contact with him, if you did sell him he'll be going with a 29" female, in a 8'x4'x4' cage with a foot of soil sand mix. if i were to buy him it would probly be on april 9th. before the rep show in NC(which i will be at)

That sounds like a good possibility. We may want to see if Thrasher and your female get a long before we do anything though. The cage you have sounds like a real good size for 2 of them. The big question is if he is a definate male and if they will get along. We should see if they are ok together at some point.

Post a picture of her when you get a chance. I am interested in seeing her.

From what i am told you are correct in saying that the crosses are smaller and less fiesty than straight argus. I have a 3 foot plus argus gouldii cross. He is generally docile and "tolerates" me poking around in his world. Here are a couple of pics of him and his enclosure.

thank you very much for the pictures. i love that enclosure. i have a 7' X 3.5' X 4' cage waiting for it/them depending if i get 1 or 2. how old is your cross? i have talked to someone who has worked with them and he said they are a great monitor and that he had a alot of fun when he had them. keep the comments and pics coming
