what do you guys think of this argus in the classifieds listed as 3' argus monitor, being sold by rainforest exotics, does anyone know of a wedsite, or breeder of arguses that might have a male agus about 30-36 inches

Just going by the picture, the snout looks either banged up or it might have had abnormal/stunted growth at some point (note the underbite). There might be something wrong with its vent, it is hard to tell (possibly caked gunk, maybe just an artifact of the photo). It is also hard to tell if it is overweight or just puffing up for the camera.

Given the enclosure it was in for the photo, I would not expect it had the best life up until now, which may cause problems down the road.

My personal thoughts on buying an animal like this are that you never know what you are getting - it is a gamble. This goes double when you are buying over the internet and cannot personally inspect the animal. If you are prepared to accept the risk, and the price seems right, then that is your choice to make.

It is hard for me to tell anything from that picture. I would ask them to send you some better pictures of it. Close up photos of his face, tailbase, tail, etc would be good.

I agree with Luke about the front of his face. It may be the picture, but it doesn't look right.

These heat lamps make my electric bill to high.

i looked at the pic up close and its mouth is open, but i 'm not getting that argus, i found a good looking male argus that i'm looking into
